Bitpunk.fm at the Polar Embrace

Live performed poetry

This is a recording of my live performance from The Satellite Skirmish, Polar Embrace. I’ve never had an experience quite like this — live streamed poetry in a group of bands.

A few hours before I was to go live, I rewatched the Robert Bly documentary and when he was 70, he followed a band in a gig in Brooklyn and had the people mesmerized. I really tried to bring his energy to this performance.

There were many pieces and some easter eggs that went into this. I will be working on a special edition blu ray with as much of the fancy blu ray features as I can handle. You can get the blu ray just like you can get bitpunk.fm tapes, just say you want the blu ray.

I will also be including this on the next issue of Bitpunk.fm. That issue will also feature a poem by

that we collaborated nicely on.

Thanks

Many thanks to

and his crew for hosting this event. The infrastructure, the animation, the art all came from volunteer producers. Once he finishes with the entire video, you have to see the credits — it’s a massive list.

Another special thanks to

and from their show on Thursday evenings, Home Grown Hits. They started playing some of my early recordings on their show and really gave me the confidence that I should keep going with this.

Special thanks to

as well, without coming into his aura, this would not exist. This guy is force of so much positive energy. He is making ripples in the world.

There is a huge list of people I saw in the chat with such kind words in the chat. I have it saved and I’ll have to make a special way to thank you on the tape.

Lastly, thank you to those that attended live. I… messed up the time and date in the announcement quite a few times. I know it’s difficult to catch live events so to those that carved out a portion of their weekend, thank you so much.

Value-for-value

This event was produced by a group of people that believe in the value-for-value model. This means we release our work for free in the hopes that people find it valuable. If you find it valuable you can return the value with your time, talent, or treasure.

  • Time. Your attention is valuable. If you watched, I appreciate you giving me you attention. You can also spread the word about bitpunk.fm.

  • Talent. I primarily run this cassette magazine and if your able to, considering submiting audio to the magazine. You can record some music, obvioulsy performed poetry is cool, noise, etc… reach out let’s see where it goes.

  • Treasure. If you watched live you saw how “boosts” were working. You can also mail me cash to my P.O. Box, or upgrade to a paid subscription. Or honestly, mail me some cassettes. Seriously, I had a listener mail me some blank cassettes and I was so happy. If you go to your local record store, try to find Maxell or TDK type IIs. They don’t have to be blank, they can be home-dubbed. They don’t make these anymore so if you find one, I’d love it!

Meme

The man himself, ChadF, honored me with this meme:
