Thanks Simon. I was in the military at the time, was in Afghanistan, and I'll just say struggled with this issue. There's all sorts of touch points for me here sadly. Maybe I should add that context to the post.

On your last point I agree wholeheartedly.

I'm finding poetry a nice way to make the unseen seen.

Modern internet people like to blame 2016 as the turning point, or the money people liking to blame 2008 as such. I always believed 2001 to be the true turning point. Then again, how could those young ones know?

Thanks for sharing this, Josh. I still wondered how things in the world would have turned out if that event didn't happen.

Yeah, that's quite an insight. I share your view but perhaps its because I'm naturally dying my hair gray (haha).

Powerful and to the point. My kids tell me their teachers are proud of how 9/11 "brought us together". I really wonder what goes on in their head.

Probably one of the most awkward things I've done is attend my daughters Veteran's Day class at school. I didn't really think about it, because she asked me to go. But once there, I saw her being clearly proud of me and received the kinda cult like "thank you for your service" slogans. I think I tried everything I could to not break down right then. I haven't been back.

The great costs of revenge. It's hard to look back on these events and resonate with the emotions of the time, but I think we still feel the dark effects of 9/11 in out society today.

Wow, I didn't know about the 1945 attack. Important stuff, Josh! Thank you for sharing.

Edit to add: I keep thinking about the number 30,000. Damn.
