Oh sweet! This is awesome! I will give this a listen! I need to read KG's book too...but I'll start here with the reading you gave. The video you linked to is by Vicki Bennett, one of the great living sound collage artists. Her radio show Do or DIY on WFMU is one of my all time favorite radio shows. I absolutely adore her work. Vicki Bennett should be a household name... and she is a great contributor to and advocate of Ubu. (My review of her last album Copia is here: https://igloomag.com/reviews/people-like-us-copia ) Definitely one of the best sites on the internet ... so much culture to copy / copia.
Ok yeah, KH mentions WFMU quite a bit. I'll check out that album!
Yeah there's so much to think about in this book really. It's given clarity to a lot of the things I've been thinking about. As well to many of the references you've been feeding me as well.
Outstanding! I knew virtually nothing about this and really appreciate the introduction. I also know exactly what you're talking about when it comes to timing. I love when the book finds me at the perfect time.
I feel like there must be some collage stuff on the site. Actually, there is a section called Aspen Magazine which would mail boxes of things to people, one curated by Andy Warhol which you might like.
My philosophy on it is that the piece should be enjoyable both with and without the context/reference.
I think that makes for the most rewarding reading experience, when you can read a poem without understanding the reference and still enjoy it, and then once you get the reference, you click with it even more.

Nuts! I've got to check it out.
Ubu web! Home of the excellent and unique Aspen Magazine online!
Yeah i have to dig through them but I know they did a McLuhan and I think an Andy Warhol one.
I enjoyed most of the recordings(flexi discs) that came with the magazine.
What a concise and powerful Haiku, Josh!
Great job, also your small text added so much context, and made me go back and reread the poem, thinking "oh now I get it"
Very nice!
Yeah thanks Rasmus. It’s probably not unlike the Cinema Sonnets a bit where the reference really needs the context.
I was thinking about this a bit because it’s like how specific should something be? If you really lean in, then yeah w/o context it will be missed.
Maybe this is why so much of poetry speaks to “universal” ideas.
Yeah, it can be tough to strike a balance.

I’ve loved ubuweb since making experimental videos in college. Great resource for clips and watching experimental video art
Yeah the book really goes into the video aspect which I was unaware of at first. But what an important resource!
@Abby Schleifer this book is full of Andy Warhol references too.
