Great poem. I really like this blackout format.

This one made me think. Perhaps it's better to fight the enemy of country rather than fighting the demon inside. As a matter of fact, the fighting of a nation's enemy is a great distraction. Hope all is well Josh!

A blackout comment title is most fitting!

not paying taxes sounds cute .,it leads to in reality to jail messes to clean up and money wasted ..ask Wesley Snipes... it would only possibly have impact if a lot of almost everyone did it ..and there's likely more effective ways to try to fight this tiny minority if self serving evil greedy people lying stealing hoarding as a fraudulent fake gubbamentnt while attacking its own citizens and the world and anyone who doesn't serve their purposes ..cuz that is our current reality as we know....anyways keep fighting the good fight and thanks for y'all's service

For the record the original line was "He said he would continue to help in other ways such as donating and paying taxes." I first went to just "He would continue to paying taxes" and then just thought "continue paying taxes" was better.

Not financial advice.

sorry I almost clarified my comment wasn't directly about your poem and wotde but a reaction to seeing people recently some serious commenting and encouraging others to not pay taxes...guess I should have included that disclaimer sorry lol

ps what I appreciate about threads and Substack is that people interact with civility respect and care and also I appreciate seeing random ish reactions to the post ...it's like peeking at decent interesting people who actually have things to say safely brainstorming...works for me Anyways lol

Yeah no worries, appreciate the comment, which I could tell wasn't some drive-by comment.

There's only so much one can do in a blackout poem of course. Yeah I went with the more dramatic version -- with the intention of provoking a question of what should our relationship to the state be? So, you are always more than welcome to drop by!

No need to apologize! I felt pretty encouraged tbh. If I can't write a poem that inspires a fiery reaction within 5 minutes that what am I doing?! So thanks for that!
