I’ve been holding this in my mind since I saw it. The poem. The image. The way you assembled it without overthinking—but not carelessly either.
There’s something deeply satisfying about watching someone step into a form they haven’t used before and still catch the pulse of it on the first try.
You call the collage basic, but what I see is intention—tone, rhythm, restraint. That’s where voice begins in any medium.
Also, anyone who pairs gin, glue, and a ghost of regret in five lines deserves a small crown from the gods of analog mischief.
Thank you for the dedication. It means more than you probably intended. I hope you keep going—though fair warning, once the Rolodex bites, it doesn’t let go.
Not only did my first office desk have a rolodex, but "in my rolodex" is still, well, in my rolodex of terms. I wonder how often it's not understood what that means.
Thanks for this! I love collage in all forms -audio, textual, visual- and the rolodex is a bit of low-technology that really needs to be brought back. Glad to see you doing so. I want to look into acquiring one as well. Great limerick too.
What the #@*%, Josh.

That's very kind. It was very fun 😁 yes, now I know it's a thing so I'll keep my eye out for clippings of this size.
It would be fun to try more "rolodex poetry" perhaps where somehow the poem spins or so.
I'd have to think about it some more. But yeah, you are now "in the rolodex" haha. 😆 Thanks!
I should get a Rolodex
Maybe I should ask them to do a co-branded deal! :)

Great idea! Are you going to type them up, too?
I do! I like excuses to use the typewriter. It would be easier if the cards were slightly taller but it works (if you don’t mind some mis-alignment).
My friend, there are BIGGER ones. I'll post one of those next. ( Wait until you really catch the bug....you'll be sunk. )
👀

It is really fun 😁 it makes me miss card catalogs too.
But I think the difference is the scale. At a personal scale I think the Rolodex is manageable.
At an institution level, it's painful.
